How can I update my robot's firmware?

The steps listed below will update your robot’s firmware, which helps fix many issues. If your robot's power is low, make sure to plug it in before you start!

For Dash & Dot
  • Step 1: Hold all 3 orange buttons, plus the power button, until the the lights turn red, then release. The lights will slowly blink between red and off. If you miss the red lights, just keep holding the buttons and release when they are red again.
  • Step 2: Open your app (Wonder, Blockly, etc.) and search for robots to connect to. You should see one called “DFU DASH (or DOT)”.
  • Step 3: Tap the picture of your robot to connect and follow the prompts to update the firmware.
  • Step 4: When the update finishes, your robot should be connected, powered on, and ready to go.

For Cue
  • Step 1: Hold the 3 shape buttons located atop the head, plus the power button, until the the lights turn red, then release. The lights will slowly blink between red and off. If you miss the red lights, just keep holding the buttons and release when they are red again.
  • Step 2: Open your Cue app and search for robots to connect to. You should see one called “DFU CUE”.
  • Step 3: Tap the picture of your robot to connect and follow the prompts to update the firmware.
  • Step 4: When the update finishes, your robot should be connected, powered on, and ready to go.
